DESCRIPTION:Reconnect Moreton Bay Region is a FREE event which will be held on Thursday 1st June at Redcliffe Hockey Fields (entry via Lamington Drive\, Redcliffe) for people experiencing housing stress or homelessness in Moreton Bay. \nThere will be a range of donated goods for people to take away. \nWhen: Thursday 1 June 2023 at 9am – 12:30pm\nWhere: Redcliffe Hockey Fields (behind Redcliffe Neighbourhood Centre – 1 Lamington Drive\, Redcliffe) \n Free Breakfast: 8am ALL WELCOME \nHomelessness and Housing distress is currently a major issue across Australia\, with the increased cost of living\, sale of investment properties and increase of rents. \nThe Reconnect Event aims to: \n Raise awareness of homelessness in our region\, dispel myths about the causes of homelessness and provide an opportunity for community members to become involved in reducing homelessness in our region. \n Provide an opportunity for people who are homeless\, or need some support to keep their homes\, to connect with community organisations and services. \n Provide an opportunity for organisations and workers who are helping people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to connect\, work collaboratively and join the Moreton Bay Housing & Homelessness Network Action Plan. \n Hot food\, drinks\, and other material resources will also be available on the day. \nIt will be a way to access information and support from government\, non-government\, community\, and private services all in one place. \nPlease read the Moreton Daily story – here \n\nDonations – Food and Blanket Drive\nWe will be distributing donated items to the homeless community at the event\, and we need your generous donations to hand out to people\, especially to face the colder months. \nWe would appreciate if you or your school / workplace / sporting club / church etc could collect the following items (please clean or wash second hand items prior to donation): \n Blankets\n non perishable food items \nWe apologise that due to limited storage space\, we cannot accept other items (besides blankets and food items)\n\nPlease drop off the donated goods at Encircle’s Redcliffe Neighbourhood Centre\, 1 Lamington Drive\, Redcliffe on 29th May 2023 between 9am and 3pm only. \n Thank you for your generous support of the local community. \n\n List of Sponsors and Donors – Thank you! \n\nAbsolutelyou Hairstyling\nBanjo’s Bakery\nCaboolture Bus Lines\nCaboolture Neighbourhood Centre and the Moreton Bay Housing & Homelessness Network.\nChameleon House\nCostco\nDeception Bay PCYC\nEncircle Community Services\nFootprints Community Services\nKyabra\nLawnton Country Markets\nLutheran Services\nMoreton Bay Regional Council\nMP Yvette D’Ath\nQuIHN\nRedcliffe PCYC\nRelationships Australia QLD\nSalvation Army\nThe Breakfast Club Redcliffe\nTotally Work Wear Strathpine\nRedcliffe Hockey Club
