SUMMARY:Free training: Using the Human Rights Act (Kallangur)
DESCRIPTION:This training is for workers or volunteers with community organisations\, carers\, others who are in a position to advocate on behalf of themselves or others. \nIf you support people engaging with health\, disability\, education or community services\, or in their interactions with state government or local councils\, understanding the Human Rights Act and how to use it can result in greatly improved outcomes for the people you support – and we’re offering free sessions during Human Rights Week 2023! \n‘Using the Human Rights Act’ training runs for three hours and participants will learn to use the Human Rights Act to advocate on behalf of themselves or others\, including: \n\nwhich organisations have responsibilities under the Human Rights Act 2019\nto identify when situations may limit a person’s human rights\nwhat options and remedies may be available to achieve better human rights outcomes\nto plan for engaging with a public entity to advocate\nto use the language of the Act to communicate with the public entity and advocate on behalf of themselves or others.\n\nMore information about the content of this training is available at https://www.qhrc.qld.gov.au/training/our-training-courses. \nThis training session is being offered for free as part of Human Rights Week\, with the support of Encircle\, who are hosting this session at the Kallangur Neighbourhood Centre. \nWhen: Tuesday 5 December – 10am – 12pm\nWhere: Kallangur Neighbourhood Centre\, 51 Marsden Road Kallangur\nRegister: CLICK HERE to register for the FREE training \n Human Rights Week is held 1-10 December each year and is an initiative of the Queensland Human Rights Commission. Means-testing ensures resources are provided to the people who require it the most. \nThe team will be on hand to chat with you about your pet and provide you with free advice so you can be the best pet-parent to your beloved animals. RSPCA Queensland will also be supporting your pet with: \n\nVaccinations (per booking)\nMicrochipping and pet ID tags\nFlea\, tick\, and worming products\nPet bank for dogs and cats (food\, bedding\, collars\, leads\, chain exchange)\nBehaviour and training advice\nInformation about positive pet ownership\nResponsible pet ownership online course\nSurgical bookings taken for future date (desexing\, lump removals\, dental extractions)\nEuthanasia support where quality of life is impacted\nAll of these services are completely free to the clients.\n\n* Due to a nationwide vaccine shortage\, cat vaccinations at our Community Day are unavailable.
