If you’re experiencing challenges with your tenancy, are at risk of homelessness, or need support to maintain your housing in the Moreton Bay or Brisbane North (Meanjin) area, the Homestay program may be able to help.

Encircle has been in operation providing North Brisbane support services since 1987.

We are committed to developing programs and services that support the wellbeing of community members, to encourage and enable community participation, and respond to identified community issues and needs.

Encircle operates across 6 sites – Caboolture, Kallangur, Kedron, Lawnton, Redcliffe, and Strathpine.

We have 60 staff and approximately 300 volunteers. Our programs and activities demonstrate a wide variety of integrated options for the people in our region.

Homestay

Encircle Homestay Program is an early intervention service providing support to individuals / families to sustain new or existing tenancies.

Homestay supports individuals and families at risk of homelessness to maintain independent housing by providing advice, advocacy, and information, along with practical support to sustain long-term housing and explore all available options.

  • Information, advice, and advocacy around tenancy issues
  • Budgeting support and referrals to financial counselling
  • Assistance with negotiating payment plans with real estate agents
  • Referrals to other relevant services
  • Strengthening tenancy sustainability through practical support and empowerment

Homestay is open to individuals / families who are currently housed in a tenancy, including:

  • Private rental through a real estate or landlord
  • Community housing provider
  • Social housing

Potential clients may have received a Notice to Remedy Breach or Notice to Leave where the tenancy may still be sustained.

Homeless Outreach Access Program (HOAP)

Encircle’s Homeless Outreach Access Program (HOAP) provides support to individuals / families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Moreton Bay region.

HOAP supports individuals experiencing homelessness through:

  • Information on finding accommodation or housing
  • Support with social housing applications
  • Advocacy with housing and support services
  • Referrals to specialist services
  • Strength-based case management
  • Emergency relief connections

HOAP supports people aged 18 and over experiencing homelessness in the Moreton Bay region.

Individuals (18+) and families experiencing homelessness in the Moreton Bay region who have barriers to accessing accommodation or housing.

Service Integration Initiative – Regional Care Coordination

Encircle auspices the Service Integration Care Coordinator Facilitator in the Moreton Bay region.

The Service Integration Care Coordinator facilitates collaboration between local support services assisting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The program coordinates referrals, supports care coordination groups, and helps connect individuals and families with housing and specialist supports.

Care Coordination Groups operate fortnightly across Moreton Bay North and South.

Referrals can be made by support services assisting individuals or families experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Moreton Bay Housing & Homelessness Network Meeting

Encircle’s Service Integration Care Coordinator chairs the monthly Moreton Bay Housing & Homelessness Network Meeting.

This regional network meeting brings together community services, housing providers, and government agencies to collaborate on improving housing outcomes across Moreton Bay.
